Buried Downspouts
Burying your downspouts is a smart way to improve the drainage and appearance of your yard. If you have downspouts currently and you're not directing the water away from your foundation, you could be causing foundation damage.
Burying downspouts is often one of the most effective ways to reduce basement water issues.
Benefits
-
Flooding and erosion prevention: If the downspouts discharge water near your foundation, they can cause flooding and erosion around your home. This can damage your foundation, basement, landscaping, and lawn. It can also create puddles and areas of stagnant water that attract insects and pests.
-
Elimination of tripping and mowing hazards: If the downspouts are exposed on the surface, they can create tripping and mowing hazards for you and your family. They can also get damaged by lawn equipment, vehicles, or animals. They can also look unsightly and detract from your curb appeal.
How We Bury Gutter Downspouts
The Process
We trench about 15 feet away from the foundation and lay a 4" corrugated drain tile to direct the downspout's water to a pop-up drain emitter.
